RASU JSC Confirms Compliance of Quality Management System with Requirements of Russian and International Standards

9 June 2020

In the beginning of June, Rusatom Automated Control Systems Joint-Stock Company (RASU JSC) obtained three certificates for its Quality Management System (QMS). The company’s business processes and corporate procedures were audited for compliance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015, the Russian standard GOST R ISO 9001-2015 “Quality Management Systems. Requirements”, and the new international standard, ISO 19443:2018 “Quality Management Systems. Specific Requirements for the Application of ISO 9001:2015 by Organizations in the Supply Chain of the Nuclear Energy Sector Supplying Products and Services Important to Nuclear Safety”. The three-day audit was held by the Russian branch of DQS Group (Germany), an independent international audit and certification holding company.

ISO 9001:2015, GOST R ISO 9001-2015 and ISO 19443:2018 certificates allow RASU to take part in public tenders for engineering, design, supply, service and modernization of I&C and electrical equipment, both for the nuclear sector and other industries (including conventional power, renewable energy sources, oil and gas, transport, etc.).

The audit included a number of spot checks and interviews with the company’s top managers, employees of different subdivisions, including a separate subdivision in Sarov, a branch in Finland and Rusatom Electrical Engineering branch. The company’s documentation, business processes and functioning of the Quality Management System were checked for compliance with requirements of international standards. The audit has not found any nonconformities. The auditor highly appreciated the QMS maturity, personnel qualification, and put an emphasis on examples of good practices identified in the company: a Newcomer’s Gide and a Safety Culture leaflet which help in orientation of new employees and shape their commitment to the basic values of the industry.

“RASU is one of the first companies in the Russian nuclear industry certified for compliance with ISO 19443:2018, which, together with ISO 9001:2015, allows us, on the one hand, to enhance safety culture and, on the other hand, to ensure compliance with quality and safety requirements by third-party vendors of products and services”, said Andrey Butko, CEO, RASU JSC.

Earlier, in 2017, RASU JSC obtained the ISO 9001:2015 certificate from Bureau Veritas Certification, an independent certification body.
